Health & Other Benefits

  • Core Health Plans

Acme offers several different types of health coverage so you can choose the most appropriate level of protection for yourself and your family. You can enroll in health coverage only during the annual benefits enrollment period, unless you have a qualifying life event, such as a birth of a child, marriage, divorce, death, to name a few. If you participate in the medical and dental plans, Acme shares in the cost of coverage with you.

  • Supplemental Medical Benefits

Supplemental medical insurance can help protect you from significant or unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. The following supplemental medical plans are available to you through Aetna:

Supplemental Medical Plan Coverage Elected? Coverage Tier My Annual Cost Acme's Annual Cost
Accident Insurance Yes Family $250 $500
    Critical Illness Insurance No N/A N/A N/A
Hospital Indemnity Insurance Yes Single $750 $1,500

    Accident Insurance

Accidents can happen unexpectedly and can be costly, so it’s important to protect you and your family from off-the-job accidents. While your medical coverage will help pay for some expenses associated with your injury, it generally won’t cover all of your out-of-pocket expenses. Accident insurance can provide the financial protection you need with benefits to help cover the costs for accidental injuries and out-of-pocket medical expenses.

    Critical Illness Insurance

Critical Illness coverage can ease the financial impact of a serious illness—such as cancer or a heart attack—with a lump- sum benefit to spend however you see fit. If you participate in a CDHP, Critical Illness benefits can help you cover medical costs that you may otherwise need to pay out of pocket because of the higher plan deductible.

    Hospital Indemnity Insurance

Being unprepared for a hospital stay can be financially difficult. Hospital indemnity insurance can offer peace of mind when hospitalization occurs from an unexpected sickness or injury. The benefit pays predetermined amounts for covered hospital confinements, with partial benefits for well-baby newborn hospitalization, observation unit and admissions due to substance abuse or mental disorders.

You can use the Health Care FSA for health care expenses that are not covered under your medical, dental, and vision plans—such as deductibles, coinsurance, and copays. Remember, for the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), based on IRS regulations:

    • You must use it or lose it. Unused funds in your Flexible Spending Account do not roll over into the next year or go with you if you leave NCCI.
    • Your elections must remain in effect until the next open enrollment. You may make changes to your contributions only if you experience a qualifying life event.
    • You can only use your FSA dollars for yourself or tax dependents.
